Old Business:

• Merry Grinchmas was held on December 21^st and was a success.
• State Poet Matt Mason will be here January 16, 2023 at 6:00pm.
• Despite the weather, the open house was well attended

New Business:

• Steve DeWitt was welcomed as the newest Board member. 
• A thank you card was read from the staff for the lunch the Board provided.
• Cindy Osborne from Western Library System will stop by January 13, 2023
• Amanda is preparing the Bibliostat Survey.
• The Seed Library will officially open May 1, 2023.
• Free Speech Teen Group will meet Thursday January 12, 2023, from 4-6.  Last meeting the group talked about voting and this time they will do Origami. 
• Winter reading program that the Friends of the Library is sponsoring has 32 participants so far.  The program runs until March 20, 2023.

• The Board members will provide lunch for the staff on December 15.

New Business: 

• Sandy White was presented a gift for her many years of service on the Board/Foundation.
• State Poet Matt Mason will be here January 12, 2023 at 6:00pm.

• A motion was made by Sandy to close at 4:00pm on January 6, 2023 so the staff can attend the City Awards Banquet.  It will be held at the Elk Club. The motion was seconded by Tanya.

• The library will decorate the Maids room at the Post Commanders home for the Holidays.
• Christmas Open House will be held December 15.  Staff and Board members will be making cookies.  Music will be provided from 4-6 by local high school students. The Board will also have a lunch for the Staff.
• Sandy White’s last board meeting December 12.
• Eileen will be having a Merry Grinchmas program on December 17 for kids/families from 2-4 pm. 
• Julie will drive the bookmobile in the Christmas parade December 2. 
• Amanda received a donation of seeds for the Seed Library. She has made brochures that will be handed out.
• A motion was made by Jen to go into closed session for Personnel discussion at 4:20pm. The motion was seconded by Shannon.

• September is National Library Card sign up month. Class with the most sign-ups will win a popsicle party.  Members are also taking turns reading to the classes.
• Friends meeting will be held September 19 at 6:00pm.
• National Friends of Libraries week will be held October 16-22.  During the month there will be a membership drive and a puzzle tournament on October 16 from 1-5 that will be held at the Cheyenne County Community Center.  A pumpkin decorating contest will also be held. 
• Bridget explained that donations and grants were used to fund the Imagination Library.

• Larami reported that she made new bookmarks with the new passwords and new links for the NebraskAccess databases.

• A motion was made by Jen to hire Amanda Eastin as Library Director.  The motion was seconded by Shannon.

• Jane discussed the webinar on the Open Meetings Act. Some changes will be implemented.
• Julie reported on the Adult Summer Reading program.  Final totals are, 138 Participants, 578 Books read.  Wrap-up party had 18 people attend.  Prizes were handed out. 
• Julie has started a program with the Office of Human Development.  They will meet monthly here at the library on the 2nd Friday of the month.  They will play Bingo in August and a Dance Party with Treyvon from the Cheyenne County Community Center will be held in October.
• Eileen reported her final numbers for the Summer Reading Program. There were 164 sign ups and there were 25 at the wrap-up party.
• Sandy Nelson reported that the staff is excited that Amanda Eastin accepted the Director position.
• There will be a 3-day webinar called the United for Libraries Virtual 2022 starting August 9, 10, 11.  This is also for Library Boards.

• Eileen reported that there were 164 children signed up for the reading program, and 24 Young Adults.  Program will end on July 16 and the wrap up party will be July 20.
• Julie reported that the Adult Reading Program had 134 people registered. 
• Staff evaluations are due by September 21, 2022. 
• Board requested that packets be printed and picked up before meetings.

• Steph reported that all the hands-free soap and towel dispensers have been installed, and that there are 2 standing hand sanitizing stations and a dispenser for the bookmobile.  These were purchased with the ARPA grant.
• Anyone wanting to attend the Annual Meeting in Scottsbluff is to let Steph know as soon as possible. 
• A new condenser fan will be installed in the Heating/AC unit on the north side of the building.
