The current pandemic of Covid-19 is a health hazard and one that the library takes seriously. Therefore, the library has taken steps to slow the spread of the virus while keeping as many services as possible available to the public.

Following the Panhandle Public Health District Covid-19 Risk Dial the Library will take the following actions based on the dial color:

Low:

  • Library open with programming.
  • Quarantine items for at least 24 hours and clean them before recirculating.
  • Computers and seating limited.
  • Computer and areas cleaned after patron use.
  • Virginia Room available.
  • Checkout to cart behind library available.

Moderate:

  • Public required to wear masks.
  • Limited Programming as space allows for distance.
  • Quarantine items for at least 24 hours and clean them before recirculating.
  • Limited computers, very limited public seating.
  • Computer and areas cleaned after patron use.
  • Limit of 25 patrons in the building.
  • Virginia Room closed.
  • Checkout to cart behind library available.

High:

  • Public required to wear masks.
  • Programming is Virtual only.
  • Quarantine items for one week and clean them before recirculating.
  • Material handling of returns requires gloves until after quarantine of one week.
  • Limited computers with strict 30 minute time limit, very limited public seating
  • Computer and areas cleaned after patron use.
  • Limit of 10 patrons in the building.
  • Virginia Room closed.
  • Bookmobile does not make it regular stops and is not available to the public.
  • Checkout to cart behind library available.

Severe:

  • Most likely the building will be closed.
  • Will review situation as to the feasibility of curbside.

As of November 12th the building will be closed to the public due to the Severe status. Checkout to cart will be in front of the library and the library will continue it’s virtual programming. Library hours for checkout will be Monday through Friday 9:00am-5:00pm. When the Risk Dial goes down to High then the building will reopen with normal hours and follow the procedures as outlined under High.
