The Sidney Public Library Board is a governing body established and operating under Nebraska Revised Statutes Chapter 51 and the City of Sidney Code of Ordinances, Chapter 268 (formerly Chapter 28). The Board consists of five (5) volunteer members, all of whom must be residents of the City of Sidney. Neither the Mayor nor any member of the City Council may serve on the Library Board. Board members are appointed for four (4)-year terms, and no member may be elected to serve more than two successive full terms. In the event of a vacancy due to resignation, removal, or otherwise, the Mayor and City Council appoint a replacement to serve the unexpired term. Library Board members receive no pay or compensation for their service. The Board meets regularly on the second Monday of each month at 4:30 p.m. to oversee library policy, governance, and the continued growth and service of the Sidney Public Library.

LIBRARY FOUNDATION BOARD
The Sidney Public Library Foundation, Inc. is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to supporting and enhancing the Sidney Public Library beyond what public funding alone can provide. The Foundation works to secure private donations, gifts, and community support to fund special projects, expanded programs, innovative services, and long-term sustainability initiatives that benefit library patrons of all ages. The foundation plays a vital role in strengthening Sidney Public Library by providing financial stewardship, promoting philanthropy, and investing in resources that enrich education, literacy, technology access, and lifelong learning. Through thoughtful fundraising and responsible oversight, the Sidney Public Library Foundation helps ensure the continued growth and vitality of the Library for generations to come.
The Sidney Public Library Foundation Board of Directors is composed of community members committed to supporting the long-term sustainability of the Sidney Public Library. Board members provide leadership and financial oversight, help guide fundraising efforts, ensure responsible stewardship of donated funds, and support strategic initiatives that enhance library services and programs.
